Après un stage postdoctoral au Fox Chase Cancer Center (Philadelphie), Mme Savard intègre l’École de psychologie en 1997 à titre de chercheuse-boursière du FRQ-S et entreprend ses travaux de recherche au Centre de recherche de l’Hôtel-Dieu de Québec (CHU de Québec-Université Laval) et au Centre de recherche sur le cancer de l’Université Laval. En 2000, elle est nommée professeure adjointe et elle est professeure titulaire depuis 2008. Ses divers projets de recherche sont centrés principalement sur les aspects psychologiques du cancer et sur l’efficacité, l’accessibilité et l’implantation des interventions cognitivo-comportementales pour améliorer la qualité de vie des personnes atteintes de cette maladie. Plus particulièrement, ses travaux portent sur l’insomnie, la dépression et la peur de la récidive du cancer. Ses travaux sont financés notamment par les Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada, la Société canadienne du cancer et le Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines. En 2014, le prix d’excellence en éducation de l’Association canadienne en oncologie psychosociale (ACOP) lui a été décerné. Puis, en 2015, elle a reçu une nomination au titre de fellow de la SCP/CPA. Enfin, en 2016, elle a reçu le prix d’excellence en recherche (catégorie Mentorat de jeunes professeurs-chercheurs en recherche) de la Faculté des sciences sociales de l’Université Laval.
