De 1997 à 1999, madame Simard est chercheure postdoctorale au Département de psychiatrie de l’Université de Toronto et au Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care. Elle occupe ensuite un poste de professeure régulière à l’École de psychologie de l’Université de Moncton pendant un an et retourne au Département de psychiatrie de l’Université de Toronto où elle occupe aussi, pendant un an, un poste de professeure. Elle se joint au corps professoral de l’École de psychologie de l’Université Laval en 2003. En 2011, elle est professeure invitée à l’Université Lyon 2.  Spécialisée en neuropsychologie gériatrique et en neuropharmacologie, les intérêts de recherche de madame Simard portent sur le diagnostic précoce des démences et de leurs phases prodromiques cognitives et psychiatriques, ainsi que sur le traitement des démences neurodégénératives.

Neuropsychologie gériatrique. Prévention, diagnostic précoce et différentiel des démences neurodégénérescentes à l'aide de mesures cognitives et comportementales; traitement pharmacologique des troubles de la mémoire et de la démence; stimulation/remédiation cognitive.
